The Beech Creek Botanical Garden & Nature Preserve is the dream of the Botanical Garden Association, Inc.
The Botanical Garden and Nature Preserve is located on a 164 acre site in Stark County's Washington Township, in the heart of northeastern Ohio.
The Botanical Garden Association was formed in 1999 by a group of people from several surrounding counties with the concern & desire to create a facility where education of horticulture and the environment would be the primary focus.
The Beech Creek Botanical Garden & Nature Preserve property was purchased in March, 2003 with a grant from the Ohio Public Works Clean Ohio Fund and a donation of land value by the owners.
The Botanical Garden Association, Inc. is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization, governed by a volunteer board of officers and trustees. Our membership has grown from the initial 20 members in 1999, to over 250 in 2009. From our membership we created committees to assist with accomplishing our goals.
Some of our Goals:
- Preserve stream-side forests and scarce natural resources.
- Create opportunities for children to learn about plants, gardening & the environment.
- Provide a resource center and reference library.
- Establish programs to share horticulture with the elderly and disabled.
- Enhance eco-tourism and economic development related to outdoor recreation.
- Increase environmental awareness. Increase environmental awareness.
- Offer programs on nutrition and horticultural therapy.
- Conduct valuable testing & research of growing methods.
- Develop community gardens, where families can grow their own food.
- Create a beautiful setting for public enjoyment, special events and cultural activities.

A supportive membership and dedicated group of volunteers is essential to the success of our organization. We need both new and sustaining members at every level of financial support, as well as volunteers to work on committees, provide labor or materials, staff community events, and share their expert advice or skills.
