The Botanical Garden Association was formed in 1999 by a group of people from several surrounding counties with the concern & desire to create a facility where education of horticulture and the environment would be the primary focus.

To establish and maintain within our community
a botanical garden; for horticultural education, recreational enjoyment, cultural activities, special events, and research; supported by the collection, conservation and preservation of land and plants.
The Botanical Garden Association, Inc. is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization, governed by a volunteer board of officers and trustees. Our Executive Director is also currently serving as a volunteer.
Our membership has grown from the initial 20 or so members in 1999 to 245 (at time of this writing). From our membership we created committees to assist with accomplishing goals.

Growing and sustaining membership is vital to this organization. We need membership at every level of support, joining and sustaining your membership, volunteering on a committee, or just sharing your expert advice in a particular area that we may have need.
Some of our Goals:
- Preserve stream-side forests and scarce natural resources.
- Create opportunities for children to learn about plants, gardening & the environment.
- Provide a resource center and reference library.
- Establish programs to share horticulture with the elderly and disabled.
- Enhance eco-tourism and economic development related to outdoor recreation.
- Increase environmental awareness. Increase environmental awareness.
- Offer programs on nutrition and horticultural therapy.
- Conduct valuable testing & research of growing methods.
- Develop community gardens, where families can grow their own food.
- Create a beautiful setting for public enjoyment, special events and cultural activities.
